This galvanised steel cage is a proven, simple way to catch them alive on the trip plate mechanism and contain them safely.

It comes ready to use straight out of the box. You bait it, set it, and place it close to the water's edge or along a known run, since mink follow predictable routes between cover and prey. Once a mink enters the cage and triggers the plate, the door drops behind it and it's held securely.

A note on UK law before you buy. American mink is classed as an invasive non native species, and it is illegal to release a trapped mink back into the wild. They must be humanely dispatched on site. Any trap set for wild animals must also be inspected at least every 24 hours under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, so this is a tool for active management rather than something you set and forget. Best practice in waterside settings is to use the cage in combination with a mink raft to reduce the risk of catching non target species like otter, polecat, or water vole. If a protected species is ever caught by accident, it must be released unharmed straight away.
